2003-2004 G35: RATTLE NOISE FROM REAR VIEW MIRROR HARNESS COVER



APPLIED VEHICLES:



2003 and 2004 G35 (V35 and CV35) Sedan and Coupe



IF YOU CONFIRM:



There is a rattle noise from the rear view mirror area.



^ The noise may sound like it is coming from inside the the mirror.



Or



^ The noise may sound like it is coming from the dash area.



And

^ The noise is eliminated by pushing the rear view mirror harness cover (see Figure 1) against the windshield glass.



ACTION:



Resolve the incident by applying strips of felt cloth tape as shown in the Service Procedure section of this bulletin.



Note:



Squeak and rattle repair in this bulletin may require the use of Chassis Ears Nissan Special tool J-39570 available from TECH-MATE at 1 800



662-2001.

SERVICE PROCEDURE



1. Confirm the noise is coming from just above and in front of the inside rearview mirror.



NOTE:



This rattle noise may sound like it is coming from the dash area.



^ This noise may occur when driving over bumps or rough roads.



^ Use chassis ears or other suitable listening tool to confirm noise exact location before proceeding.



2. Remove the trim cover from above the inside rearview mirror (Refer back to Figure 1).

3. Install 2 strips of felt cloth tape on the top and inside of the cover as shown in Figure 2.



^ Use felt cloth tape-P/N 68329-13E00-from the squeak and rattle repair Kit (J-43980).



^ Cut strips approximately 3/4 inch for the cover tabs.



^ Cut strips approximately 2-3/8 in./60 mm for the top and sides.



^ Make sure the felt tape covers the trim part that contacts windshield.



4. Reinstall the cover



5. Confirm the rattle is gone.
