P1715 INPUT SPEED SENSOR
Description
ECM receives Input speed sensor signal from TCM through CAN communication line. ECM uses this signal for engine control.

NOTE:
- If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC UXXXX first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC UXXXX.
- If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC P0335, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0335. See: P Code Charts/P0335.
- If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC P0340, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0340. See: P Code Charts/P0340.
- If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC P0605, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0605. See: P Code Charts/P0605.
- If DTC P1715 is displayed with DTC P0607, first perform the trouble diagnosis for DTC P0607. See: P Code Charts/P0607.
Diagnosis Procedure
1.CHECK DTC WITH TCM
Check DTC with TCM. See: Powertrain Management/Transmission Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Scan Tool Testing and
Procedures/5AT RE5R05A/On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System/Introduction.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES - GO TO 2.
NO - Perform trouble shooting relevant to DTC indicated.
2.REPLACE TCM
Replace TCM.

P1721 VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL
Description
The vehicle speed signal is transmitted from unified meter and A/C amp. to TCM by CAN communication line.
The signal functions as an auxiliary device to the output speed sensor when it is malfunctioning. The TCM will then use the vehicle speed signal.
CONSULT-III Reference Value in Data Monitor Mode
On Board Diagnosis Logic
- This is not an OBD-II self-diagnostic item.
- Diagnostic trouble code "P1721" with CONSULT-III is detected when TCM does not receive the proper vehicle speed signal (input by CAN
communication) from unified meter and A/C amp.
Possible Cause
Harness or connectors
(Sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
