A Direct-type Fuel-injection System

The rear-wheel-drive BRZ is an authentic sports coupe that carves its own path with its light vehicle weight, ultra-low centre of gravity and precision steering, delivering pinpoint handling accuracy and an unmatched level of driving pleasure for sports car enthusiasts of all skill levels.

Utilizing SubaruĄŻs naturally aspirated, horizontally opposed Ą°boxerĄą engine design, the BRZ is capable of achieving up to 7.0L/100 km highway fuel economy (with six-speed automatic transmission).

The engine delivers 200 hp at 7,000 rpm and 151 lb/ft of peak torque at 6,400 ¨C 6,600 rpm, with a high specific output of 100 hp/litre. The engineĄŻs fuel injection system uniquely combines direct injection and port injection technology.

A direct-type fuel-injection system, which sprays fuel directly into the combustion chambers rather than upstream into the ports, provides a cooling effect in the cylinders. This enables use of a very high 12.5:1 compression ratio to extract maximum energy from the fuel.

In light- and medium-load conditions, the port fuel injectors help produce precise combustion, increasing performance and efficiency.

Driving enthusiasts can choose between a six-speed manual and an optional six-speed automatic transmission in the 2016 Subaru BRZ and BRZ Sport-tech Package. Both transmissions have been engineered and tuned to maximize performance and sporty driving feel.

Pricing starts at $27,395 for the base model with manual transmission and $28,595 for the automatic. The Sport-tech Package manual is $29,395 and the Sport-tech automatic is $30,595.

Like all Subaru models, the 2016 Subaru BRZ has achieved a U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety 2015 Top Safety Pick.

This 2+2 sports coupe has also earned an ALG (formerly Automotive Lease Guide) 2015 Residual Value Award for highest overall predicted resale value for the third year in a row.
